Kelly Scott Sextet

Co-led by Downbeat Magazine award winning jazz vocalist Lisa Kelly and Warburton Signature Trumpet Artist JB Scott, this highly entertaining group features 6 renowned jazz artists, each with national and international playing experiences as soloists and in small groups and big bands. Based in Florida, the sextet has enjoyed repeat performances for many regional to national jazz festivals, jazz clubs, concert venues, jazz societies, corporate and private events. Lisa and JB are each profiled among 320 of today's top international jazz artists in the acclaimed book, The New Face of Jazz. They have appeared with many jazz luminaries, including Ed Calle, Cyrus Chestnut, and Arturo Sandoval, Lisa has 8 Downbeat Magazine awards to her credit for singing, composing, arranging, and has been featured with the Larry Elgart Orchestra, Chris Riddle Orchestra, and the St. Johns River City Band. Former bandleader of the famed Dukes of Dixieland in Nola, JB has toured with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and appeared with Ken Paplowski, Rufus Reid, and Nick Brignola. Former band leader of the famous Air Force big band, the Airmen of Note. Dave Steinmeyer is a “trombonist’s trombonist.” He has performed with many notables including Sarah Vaughn, Joe Williams, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Patrick Williams, J.J. Johnson, Lou Rawls and Diane Schuur, played for 8 U.S. Presidents, and he appeared in the classic movie, “A Few Good Men.” The group’s rhythm section always features top-shelf players on piano, bass, and drums, including Jeff Phillips, Aaron Lehrian, Dennis Marks, Charlie Silva, Clyde Connor, and Eddie Metz, Jr. The Kelly/Scott Sextet presents music that is engaging, versatile, and skillfully interpretive. Influences on the group include Louis Armstrong, Bix Biderbecke, Ruby Braff, Clark Terry, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson, Teddy Wilson, Monty Alexander, Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Jack Teagarden, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and Buddy Morrow. This top shelf group of pros is dedicated to playing Chicago Swing/New Orleans style Jazz in a highly musically entertaining and spirited fashion. The group is co-led by the flamboyant virtuoso trumpeter, JB Scott, former musical director of the world famous Dukes of Dixieland, and Downbeat Magazine award winning jazz vocalist Lisa Kelly, well-known for her rich, smooth tone and swinging delivery of lyric. Featured on his unique story telling vocal stylings is versatile banjo/guitarist Ken Calhoun and rounding out the ‘all star’ cast are legendary musicians, trombonist Dave Steinmeyer, former lead player and director of the renowned Air Force big band, the Airmen of Note, and multi-instrumentalist Bill Prince, on clarinet and trumpet.
